Jane Austen Knits and Provisionnal Cast on ??? / Tricot inspiration de Jane Austen et Tutoriel...

In my last post, I promised you something new but not so new.

It's Knitting inspired ... by Jane Austen, and especially her time.

I bought there long time ago, 3 beautiful magazines (in English, , sorry !! the French!!).
But
Everything is beautiful !!

After a bit of history about Jane Austen and her time, knits are classified by style of life:
                          Country (my favorite!)

manor

garden

town

Each category has its styles.

Tough choice ...

But after all, why choose ...

There is something for everyone, guys, women, children and even the house (with tea cozy !!).

Well I'll show you a bit:

I chose (you have to start somewhere) a large shawl!

so feminine, so romantic and  so.... Jane Austen.

I was already a fan of her novels, but then I feel back there at the same time!

Well when we begin to look at the explanations we stop dreaming because not so simple !!!!

But it is a nice challenge.

This is the opportunity to make a small Tuto on cast on:

Provisional cast-on.

That way it does not mean anything !! but it's actually super convenient to start a shawl.

the finish is beautiful and there is no excess thread ...

With circular needles and two threads , I show you how.

The ideal is to take two threads of different colors to better identify.

With wool thread color of your project, make a loop like a knot and tighten around the needle.

Then take a piece of wool of another color, come to parallel to the needle as the image.

The trick: it is to wrap the thread of your project around the little piece of thread and  your needle simultaneously.

And the same operation until the desired number of stitches.

Once cast-on done, simply knit a little.

For example, I needed 11 stitches, I cast-on 3 stitches provisional cast-on, and I knit 11 rows .

it looks like this:

After you just have to pick up stitches on the left side of your knitting with yarn.

As if  you were knitting all around our knitting.

For example, I picked up 5 stitches.

With the left needle, take provisional stitches and remove the piece of wool that held sts.

Knit these 3 sts.

It's done, a perfect provisional cast-on!!

Well, I started to knit that wonderful shawl with Alpaca wool Apricot colour.

Of course, I will give you news about it...
And I already found this to wear with!!!

See you,

À bientôt,

Miss
